5 Reasons To Declutter Your Bathroom

5 reasons to declutter your bathroom
“If I want to be alone, some place I can write, I can read, I can pray, I can cry, I can do whatever I want - I go to the bathroom.” ~ Alicia Keys

Do you agree with Alicia? Because I do. My bathroom is my creative space, my stress-relieving space, my anxiety fixer, my I-can-get-happy-in-here space, or I’m gonna be sick please leave me alone space. It’s so many things to so many of us. But, how many of us give it the attention it deserves? When last have you put some fresh flowers in your bathroom, or gotten rid of the clutter that’s streaming out of every orifice? Long time, hah!

Well, let's dive into today's Declutter Tuesday and look at tip #6 in my "30 Small Bites to #Clutter Freedom." Today, we are talking about 5 reasons why you should declutter your bathroom. Now, read ahead, get it done, and then thank me later.

Tip #1 - Improved Hygiene

Our bathroom is a breeding ground for dust, moisture, mold, mildew, and bacteria. When you have a cluttered bathroom, you increase the risk of each of these things thereby putting yourself and your family at risk of “catching something.” I’m sure nobody wants that. Decluttering your bathroom will help to reduce the incidences of these and promote a cleaner and healthier environment for you and your family.

Tip #2 - Time Efficiency

Finding what you need is quicker when your bathroom is organized, saving you valuable time during your daily routines. When everything has its designated place and is easily accessible, you spend less time searching for items like toiletries, makeup, or medications. This saved time can be valuable during busy mornings or when you are in a rush, especially on those school mornings when you need to get the children out of the house, and you are also running late. Being able to quickly find what you need makes your daily bathroom tasks more efficient and less stressful.

Tip #3 - Enhanced Safety

Fewer items on countertops reduce the risk of accidents, such as knocking over bottles or slipping on cluttered floors. For example, knocking over bottles or containers on a cluttered countertop can lead to spills or injuries. Additionally, a clutter-free floor is less likely to pose tripping hazards, which is especially important in a potentially wet and slippery environment like the bathroom. This tip comes in handy for my friends who are a little unhandy (clumsy). I can already hear the screams of, “I feel attacked!”

Tip #4 - Peaceful Atmosphere

I don’t know about you, but my bathroom is like one of my little sanctuaries. I go there to think and sing my heart out in my shower, plus, dance up a storm while washing my face or brushing my teeth. Therefore, I need a tidy bathroom to create a more serene and relaxing environment which helps me to unwind and de-stress. A tidy and organized bathroom promotes a sense of tranquility and calm. When you enter a clutter-free space, you're less likely to feel overwhelmed or stressed by visual chaos. This can enhance your overall bathroom experience, making it a place where you can unwind, take a soothing bath, or engage in self-care rituals without unnecessary distractions. If you’re with me on this one say, "Yeah!"

Tip #5 - Aesthetic Appeal

Decluttering can make any room look more spacious and visually appealing, contributing to an overall pleasant and inviting atmosphere; the bathroom is no exception. When you open the door to a well-organized bathroom, it creates a positive first impression and contributes to an inviting atmosphere. This can be particularly important if you have guests or if you're looking to create a more pleasing environment for yourself and your family.
